Welcome to the Sangria page! A long time ago, after one of those posts where I mentioned all the crazy people who end up here by googling “Sangria recipe,” one such googler (though this one was smart, not crazy) said “Hey, here’s an idea, genius: Why don’t you put a damn sangria recipe on your site?” Actually she was way nicer than that. And I’m very appreciative to her for the suggestion. But I’m very disappointed in myself for never having had the idea to actually put anything informative about sangria on a site called Sangria Lover. It’s really not that hard of a connection to make.
So, anyway, here’s the sangria page! Right now it only has my very favorite recipe for home-made sangria (to get the best Sangria, you have to go to Barcelona, that’s all there is to it), but there’s a chance more will be added at some point.
My favorite home-made Sangria recipe (so far):

Classic Spanish Sangria

- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lime, sliced
- 1/2 lemon, sliced
- 1.5 oz brandy
- 2 Tbs sugar
- 750mil bottle light red wine (I prefer a Rioja, but any Spanish wine on the sweet site [but not too sweet!] will do.)
- 12 ounces Sprite (the book recommends club soda, but I find the flavor to be too bitter. The sweetness and citrus flavors of sprite complement the sangria nicely)
- About 3 cups ice cubes
In a large glass pitcher, combine the orange, lime, and lemon slices. Add the brandy and sugar and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Pour in the wine, stirring gently. Refrigerate 2 hours to overnight.
When ready to serve, add the Sprite and stir gently with a long-handled wooden spoon. Fill wine glasses with ice cubes and pour the Sangria over the ice, allowing the fruit slices to fall into the glasses.
