Book Challenge ’07: The half-way point

Yesterday I finished Book 15: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon.

I absolutely loved it. It was funny. It was touching. It sucked me in and made me wish I could stretch my lunch hour just a little longer (say, by two hours or so) so I wouldn’t have to put the book down quite yet. It was really, really good. You guys should all read it as soon as you get the chance. Trust me on this one; I wouldn’t steer you wrong.

But, if you don’t fully trust my opinion, maybe you’ll be persuaded when you hear that the book was recommended to me by none other than the production assistant for Spiderman 3 (who also happens to be one of my very best friends).

That’s right. I name-dropped. What are you going to do about it, hmmmm?

Kavalier and Clay is AS’s favorite book. He bought me a copy when we were first dating to take with me on a trip and I have loved it (and him) ever since!

I’m glad you liked the book. For me it totally captured the whole romantic vision I have of New York and being a strugglilng artist. Which now that I think about it is almost sad that my vision of those things are a little negative, especially since I am living in New York and a struggling somewhat artist.
On another note, and a somewhat narcissistic one at that, I went to see Spider-man 3 last night at the midnight IMAX screening (cause I am that dork who bought tickets weeks ago and got in line 3 hours early to get decent seats, but at least I didn’t get dressed up or wear any spider-related clothes like about half the audience) and it was frikkin amazing to see my name on the big screen for the first time. I always did tv before this and then my first film still hasn’t come out yet, so this was my first one i worked on that has been released. So I was at a sold out, midnight IMAX screening of a movie I would be there for anyway, in New York City and my name was at the end of the movie. I’m a dork, but I was the happiest dork in the world when I saw that at 2:30 am. And I screamed like a 13 year old girl at a Justin Timberlake concert.
